The Future of the Church
Steve has now retired, and the process has just started to find a new vicar for our parish. In our diocese, as in nearly all others across the country, each individual parish must fund and support their own vicar.
The Parochial Church Council (PCC) believes that Rainow needs and deserves a full-time vicar but unfortunately, as things stand at the moment, that won’t be possible. To be able to do so, we would need a significant increase in regular income.
This matter affects the whole village, so we felt it only right to share this information with you all so that you are fully aware of the situation. Regardless of whether you attend services regularly, occasionally or just enjoy some of the many village events supported and organised by the church community you may feel able to consider setting up a regular donation (currently 47 people regularly donate). Even the smallest amount will make a difference. A covenant service is planned for those who might like to come into church and hear more about the important role the church has played in our village and will continue to do so in the future.
The financial situation will shortly be reviewed by Archdeacon Ian Bishop, and the PCC would like to be able to demonstrate, and show evidence of, support for a full-time vicar in our community. We can’t do this without you.
If you would like to donate then please leave a comment below, with your contact details (we won’t publish it on the site), and someone will get back to you with all the necessary details to set up a standing order.
You may also send a direct message via the button at the top of the church’s Facebook page, if you prefer.
